NUBIZ and GINN focus on growing markets

International trade fair supports knowledge format on alternative products in Nigeria.
NUBIZ, the international trade fair for the next generation of smoke-free subsitutes, products, heated tobacco, vapes and oral products., and part of InterTabac, is intensifying its cooperation with the Global Institute for Novel Nicotine (GINN). As a strategic partner, NUBIZ is supporting GINN at the 1st African Roundtable on Tobacco Harm Reduction in Lagos. On 30 May, this roundtable will convene high‑level participants in the Nigerian metropolis to discuss evidence-based strategies to guide innovation, responsible regulation, and the reduction of smoking-related risks.
Dortmund, 09 April 2026 – For GINN, the event marks an important step toward continental collaboration with the aim of reducing the health burden of smoking through safer alternatives. High-level participants are expected, media professionals, vendors, regulators, medical experts, and international harm‑reduction advocates. Centred around the theme, “Reducing Smoking Harm in Africa: Practical Pathways for Change,” the focus will be on Africa’s smoking realities, tobacco‑harm reduction science, strategies for safer alternatives, regulatory and market frameworks – complemented by lived‑experience insights.
The roundtable is designed as a compact, action-oriented one-day format. The conference program will be complemented by an on‑ground insights visit organized by GINN on the following day (May 31), offering exclusive insights into alternative‑product availability across retail locations.
GINN deliberately chose Lagos as the venue: the city provides access to policymakers, trade networks, and media, and is a natural meeting ground for African and global stakeholders. The Nigerian tobacco market is considered one of the largest in Africa, valued at more than USD 4 billion and a positive growth outlook. Modern oral nicotine products, in particular, are seeing increasing interest and growing visibility in retail, while current laws in Nigeria centre primarily on conventional tobacco products.
The Global Institute for Novel Nicotine and NUBIZ, as an international trade fair for alternative products and part of InterTabac, are expanding their cooperation with this new event format to include a strategically valuable international platform in a growing market. In doing so, they reinforce their shared goals: promoting knowledge exchange, innovation, and networking in a young and dynamic industry.
