“Sustainable trend”

Three questions for … Nathalie Darge, from Tobacco Europe AISBL.

MAINZ // InterTabac is getting closer and closer. DTZ asked well-known industry representatives what they expect from this year’s trade fair. Today: Nathalie Darge, Secretary General of Tobacco Europe AISBL.

Ms. Darge, what are you particularly looking forward to at InterTabac?

Nathalie Darge: I would like to emphasize one highlight: On the second day of the trade fair, Tobacco Europe will be hosting the hybrid event “Eyes on Brussels”. This offers us a special opportunity to provide information on current regulatory developments in the EU and to discuss the political and legislative dynamics that will influence the future of the industry. It is an ideal setting to engage with industry players on topics such as sustainability and regulation – a program item that I am eagerly awaiting.

What political framework conditions does the industry need for sustainable development?

Darge: For our industry to grow sustainably, a stable and future-oriented political framework is essential. This requires clear and reliable regulations that recognize the economic contribution of our sector and at the same time take appropriate account of health policy concerns. We need policies that encourage innovation, support research and development and enable a balanced dialog between industry representatives and decision-makers. A system based on transparency, evidence-based decision-making and mutual trust is crucial to align both industry interests and public policy objectives in a long-term and sustainable way.

What role do InterTabac and InterSupply play in the work of your organization?

Darge: The fairs allow us to connect with key stakeholders, including industry leaders and technical experts. It is also a great opportunity to learn about new practices and trends from different countries. Not only do we have the opportunity to present our viewpoints and innovations here, but we also see them as platforms where we can engage in critical discussions that help shape the regulatory landscape.
