InterTabac already reports more than 160 exhibitors / pairing events from this segment
DORTMUND // When the international tobacco industry gathers again in Dortmund from September 18 to 20 for the leading trade fair InterTabac, both the top-class line-up of exhibitors and the high-quality supporting program will reflect the unbroken fascination for one of the trade fair’s core segments.
The cigar as a traditional pleasure and cultural asset is also a strong focus at the 45th edition of the trade fair. With already more than 160 exhibitors from the cigar and accessories categories alone – and with various exciting event formats in the supporting program.
The international cigar industry presents itself in all its diversity, enabling specialist retailers to discover new trends, enjoy tried and tested classics and benefit from the expertise of the exhibitors. Among the exhibitors presenting themselves in Dortmund is J. Cortes, a premium brand of the Belgian company Vandermaliere-Cigar-Family. The J. C. Newman Cigar Company, one of the oldest family-run cigar manufacturing companies in the country, is coming from the USA. Also from the USA are Fuente Cigars and Notorious Cigars. French manufacturer Maya Selva Cigars won the “Cigar Trophy Award” at last year’s InterTabac and is now returning. Gesinta International Tobacco and Humo Selecto, for example, are coming from Spain and House of Grauer from Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the traditional companies Joh. Wilh. von Eicken, Kleinlagel, Kopp Tobaccos and Villiger Söhne will be representing the art of German cigars. Companies such as Selected Tobacco, Art Habanos, Capital Group America Corporation, XO Havana and Guri Cigars will be represented at InterTabac for the first time.
To round off the offerings in the classic cigar segment, the trade fair duo’s supporting program naturally also has several interesting points in store for trade visitors. For example, Scott Pearce, President of the Cigar Association of America (CAA), and Joshua Habursky, Managing Director of the Premium Cigar Association, have been confirmed as speakers. Their presentations will focus on the important topic of regulations.
In “Newsroom 1”, the focus is also traditionally on cigars. This is where the popular tastings and the presentation of combinations (pairings) and the “Cigar Blending Experience” (the art of cigar blending) will take place. This year, the pairings will be led by Jens Tausch. He is an expert in the field of combining spirits and cigars and also works as an author for the “Cigar Journal”. The pairings will take place on all three days of the fair at 1 pm. On Thursday and Friday afternoons, master blender Claudio Sgroi will also be offering a special blending experience.
Pre-registration is required for the events. All details can be found on the InterTabac website.
The “Cigar Culture Summit” will take place the day before the trade fair for the first time this year. The exclusive summit brings together the leading personalities of the cigar world: from legendary manufacturers and growers to influential media, importers and retailers. Participants can expect exciting panel discussions, informative workshops, exquisite tastings and exclusive networking opportunities. Up-to-date information on this exclusive event can be found on the homepage.
