How we preserve our earth

Die Tabak Zeitung // Sustainability is a key issue of our time. The tobacco and nicotine industry is also increasingly affected by this issue. It is not without good reason that the industry is subject to ever new regulations aimed at paving the way to a future in which the environment and climate are protected.

In the face of global challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity and social responsibility, the industry is faced with the task of making its processes and products more sustainable. From environmentally friendly tobacco production and the reduction of packaging waste to the promotion of fair working conditions in the supply chain – sustainability offers both challenges and opportunities for innovation and responsibility. In this latest special issue, DTZ looks at how the industry is responding to these challenges and the steps it is taking to make a positive contribution to a more sustainable future.

Companies have long been working on reducing their ecological footprint in the supply chain or promoting the circular economy. In this issue, DTZ gives companies, specialist retailers and associations the opportunity to talk about their commitment and thus create visibility.

One example illustrates the sums involved. As part of the programme to decarbonize industry, over 1.2 billion euros were made available for climate-friendly technologies and processes in 2024 alone – and the trend is rising.
