Commitment to fellow human beings

Die Tabak Zeitung // Under the motto “Sustainable help”, around 50 Reemtsma employees recently got involved in six social initiatives in and around Hamburg.

According to the company, the “Reemtsma Help Day” has been an integral part of the tobacco company’s social commitment since 2012. Staff are given time off for the day to volunteer their time for social projects.

This year, the focus was on sustainable aid: among other things, the teams supported the food distribution for homeless people at the “CaFée mit Herz” in St. Pauli, renovated club rooms at the “Schrødingers” cultural and social center and helped distribute food to over 400 people in need in cooperation with the “Hamburger Tafel”.

At the “Gärtnerhof am Stüffel”, they worked together with people with special needs, while another team of volunteers sorted donations in kind at the “Der Hafen hilft!” association and prepared them for those in need. One unusual assignment was the accompanied day trip to the Baltic Sea for senior citizens from the “Bismarck Seniorenstift”. Three days after the end of the campaign day, helpers and project partners came together for a “Helpers’ Brunch” at the Reemtsma headquarters in Hamburg to exchange ideas and take stock together. “Our Help Day shows how powerful personal commitment can be,” said the Imperial Brands subsidiary. The long-standing format promotes social cohesion and also shapes cooperation in everyday working life. With Help Day, Reemtsma says it is continuing its explicit commitment to responsible action and social engagement.
